I placed an order with True North Seed Bank back in November 2020. The ordering process itself was difficult, especially when it came to payment. It took several weeks of back-and-forth with their customer service team before the order was finally shipped. Once it was sent, the package arrived in about 14 days, which was acceptable, but that’s where the problems really started.
Quality of Seeds Received
When I inspected the seeds, about half of them were black, very dense, and sank in water — and none of those germinated. I reached out to customer service to let them know. To their credit, they agreed to replace the bad seeds. During that replacement process, I also decided to buy an additional $160 worth of seeds.
The Replacement Order Issue
Now here’s where it went completely downhill. The replacement order was marked as delivered, but 14 days after the estimated delivery window, nothing arrived. I contacted them, and they informed me the package was likely delayed or held in customs — and that I would NOT be refunded and NOT be provided another replacement.
At that point it felt like their policies were structured in a way that leaves the customer stuck with the loss, while they accept no responsibility. The experience went from frustrating to genuinely disappointing.
My Final Thoughts
Based on how everything was handled, I cannot recommend True North Seed Bank. The seed quality in my case was poor, the replacement process initially seemed positive but ultimately led nowhere, and the customer support responses were unhelpful when it mattered most. This experience has left a very negative impression and I will be choosing other seed banks in the future.
